Going Green

We are doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint. We have taken the following steps towards this goal:

  1. Added a windmill to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas electricity that we use.
  2. Eliminated the use of all plastic straws.
    Effect: Reduce landfill
  3. Added recycle bins for paper, glass, plastic, aluminum and cardboard as possible.
    Effect: Reduce landfill
  4. Installed and maintained energy-efficient equipment
    Effect: Reduced Energy Use
  5. Replaced standard light bulbs with compact fluorescent, linear fluorescent or LED lighting.
    Effect: Reduce energy usage and reduced landfill
  6. Power up & Power down
    Effect: Reduce energy usage
  7. Inspected kitchen and restroom faucets to repair leaks
    Effect: Reduced water usage
  8. Eliminated plastic water and soda bottles.
    Effect: Reduce landfill
  9. Changed takeout packaging to include corn starch to-go cups, takeaway utensils made from potato starch, and recyclable paperboard takeout containers.
    Effect: Reduce landfill
  10. Used all recycled paper in our restaurant
    Effect: Reduce landfill
  11. Installed low-flow water valves in kitchens and restrooms where possible.
    Effect: Reduced water usage
  12. Added a greywater system for our toilets. We capture our ice machine and A/C condensation.
  13. Green Roof, Gabled Green Roof built and installed in June 2010, at our 11th St. location.
